I am so excited! I get to do volunteer work at Clínica Martín-Baró in the Mission for my Latino Perspectives on Health Care class. I was just talking about how much I would love to volunteer at a free clinic. I am really excited about it. I only have to volunteer about 20 hours for the whole semester, but I am going to see if I can volunteer more if I have time. Should be a good thing. I am super excited! Here are some articles about the clinic:

Super Happy
I am super happy today. It's cool. I am pensive too. But, this next month isn't going to be that great, I think. Who knows? Anyway, I had the best morning ever. Yeah. It was cool. Last night was sick too. The show was badass and the firework was cool too. If you didn't go, you missed out. I got beer in my hair and clothes though. I think by the end of the night I was soaked in beer. Interestingly enough, I wasn't even drinking.
If you haven't checked out Weekend Nachos, you should. They are badass. Also, check out Coke Bust and In Disgust ((they don't have a myspace... just check out their shows)).
Apparently the thing to say last night was, "BREAK EDGE!" Haha... That was kind of funny.
You know, I missed shows like that. I haven't been to a good show where people went crazy in a long time. I mean, what ever happened to the bloody noses and garbage throwing? It seems people gravitate more toward the lame-ass Leftover Crack shows and decide to go crazy for that shit. Remember when people went apeshit for Iron Lung? Remember when people went absolutely crazy at Municipal Waste shows? What happened? Hopefully it comes back. If it does, I might go in the pit again... I think the last time I was really in the pit was for Desobediencia Civil at the DQU Benefit.
Hmm... Well, just wanted to rant about stupid shit.
Who the fuck reads this anyway? Losers.

At Home..
...and I want to see AT THE GATES. The tickets are expensive, but I think I have enough shit in my room to sell to make at least half the money. It would be sick to see them. But, I would need a ride there, because goddamn the Filmore is far away.
If you have nothing to do on Saturday night I suggest you make it to Rob Avery's show at Burnt Ramen!
This show is about to be hella sick! GO! Don't be a loser....

I gotta...
...do something I really don't want to do when I get back. It sucks. Hopefully everything will turn out ok in the end though.
I love the weather outside right now. It reminds me of Guatemala. It is humid, hot, and raining. I miss it there. I hate to go there sometimes, but it is where I come from. I love it there and right now I really miss it.
You know what else I miss? Topdog. Goddamn. I never thought I would miss eating those $3 wienies. I love going there at 12am or later. There is something comforting about that place. Who wants to go when I get back? Wow, vegans really do only talk about food sometimes, huh? Weird.
So, I get back on Tuesday. Who wants to kick it?
Just letting you know that you can post comments without having to sign up. Just an FYI.

This show...

...is going to be sick!
I can't wait to see Bumbklaatt! I love that bands that are playing.
There may not be a lot of people coming out to this show, but you know what? They will be missing out on some badass bands. People should appreciate how cool it is to have these bands come out and play. Bumbklaatt is coming all the way from Mexico to play! That is badass, right? I wish more people would support these shows.
I guess I am realizing that the bands and scenes that I love so much aren't popular. Not a lot of people are into crust, grind, powerviolence or thrash anymore. I see more people come out to macho bullshit hardcore shows. You know, the kind that have all those guys acting like bros and shit with their jerseys and hardcore dancing. What ever happened to circle pits? I also see a lot of people going to the street punk shows too. Monster Squad can sell out Gilman, but Unholy Grave can't? Whatever. I've got to learn to accept that people like that kind of music. Oh well.
But come to this show anyway!!!!

Sweet.
I guess I should have done my punk research before I came out to the East Coast. I have been trying to look for shows around here (Washington DC-Maryland area), but can't seem to find anything. I am not sure if they have their own version of "The List." Eh, well, I better make most of my time around here. I am sure it will be fun.
So, the flyer for the August 8th show should be ready soon. I can't wait to see what it will look like. England will not be doing it this time. Carlos Antagony is making the flyer. Let's see how it comes out. I'm sure it will look badass!
OH SHIT!

The shows....
The shows on Saturday and Sunday were fun. It was a great crowd and the bands were amazing. The people and the bands were really great and nice. However, attendance for both shows were really low despite the fact that these bands are amazing.
Coaccion came all the way up from Mexico to play one show at CRUST SIN FRONTERAS. They played an amazing set and the people that missed them that night should definitely be kicking themselves.
Aghast (VA) and Giuda (Italy) were touring together and both played sick sets at Gilman and Balazo. A lot of the people who went to the show at Gilman showed up the next night at Balazo to see these bands. They are nice guys and definitely bands that people should check out if they haven't heard of them already.
All Systems Fail came all the way from Utah to play the shows that I offered them. They were super nice and played sick sets. They were really supportive of everything.
The local bands Matarata, La Grita, Eskapo, Acephalix, and Outraged all played amazing sets. They played really well and were all super nice and supportive of the touring bands.
Basically, if you didn't show up to these shows, you missed out on some amazing bands and nice people. These bands all have good draws and I still cannot understand why more people did not show up to watch these bands play.
The bands and I worked our asses off to make these shows badass and in the end the shows were great. In the end, I ended up losing money that I took from my own pocket, but I don't mind because the Balazo show was fun to be at. A lot of my friends were there to help me.
I want to thank all the bands that played and everyone that showed up to support them.
I want to thank Cassondra for helping me promote these shows and helping me make tamales.
And another thanks to Karen who made tamales with me. She worked super hard and looked after the table. She deserves one of the biggest thanks of all.
And I just want to say an extra thanks to England from Eskapo who helped me think of bands for both those shows, did the flyers for both the shows, played at one of the shows despite the fact that one of his favorite bands was doing a reunion in San Jose, helped me organize everything, and kept me on track time-wise. THANKS!

I hate gangs....and stupid anarchists....
... what the fuck is it with Resist and Exist. I don't understand why the fuck they think it's cool to associate themselves with gangs. It's like they are promoting gang violence. Fuck. They associate themselves with Bloodhound the notorious Blood who got shot 23 times just because he has radical politics and is vegan. Fuck that. What a bunch of over privileged punks. I am sure none of them grew up in the ghettos where gang life is reality and even if they did, they should not be associating themselves with gangs. Goddamn Anarchists always want to be PC, but end up doing stupid shit like this. Who in their right mind would associate themselves with gangs. I hate the gangs in the punk scene and I hate the gangs that were in the neighborhoods I used to live in. Gang life is not glamorous. Gang life is scary as fuck and I would never want to be associated with Bloodhound no matter how radical his politics. FUCK! I mean, Resist and Exist are peace punk anarchists!!! Gangs have hierarchies and they are violent. Gangs are divisive and do not promote ANY unity outside of their own groups. I don't understand some of these people. It's stupid. FUCK GANGS! Fuck them! How ridiculous are people sometimes. Goddamn I hate anarchists sometimes.

Shows....

Two shows coming up this next weekend. They should go well. It took a long time to get both of these shows set up and it was a lot of hard work. There were bands that canceled last minute, there was the issue of finding money to pay for Balazo, there was an issue even finding a venue for the second day. But, I think that these shows will do well. Both have solid lineups. The second day seems more like a familia show, doesn't it? Most of the bands on that bill know each other.
Well, one thing I do know is that CRUST SIN FRONTERAS will have tamales!!! We are going to go all out again and bust our asses for hours to make them as we love to do. Should be a fucking sick weekend and I hope that people make it out to see the shows to support the bands and the venues! FUCK YES!
Ok, now I got to go to work.
Paz.
Music Before Work....
....Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds....
"Babe, You Turn Me On"
Stay by me, stay by me
You are the one, my only true love
The butcher bird makes it's noise
And asks you to agree
With it's brutal nesting habits
And it's pointless savagery
Now, the nightingale sings to you
And raises up the ante
I put one hand on your round ripe heart
And the other down your panties
Everything is falling, dear
Everything is wrong
It's just history repeating itself
And babe, you turn me on
Like a light bulb
Like a song
You race naked through the wilderness
You torment the birds and the bees
You leapt into the abyss, but find
It only goes up to your knees
I move stealthily from tree to tree
I shadow you for hours
I make like I'm a little deer
Grazing on the flowers
Everything is collapsing, dear
All moral sense has gone
It's just history repeating itself
And babe, you turn me on
Like an idea
Like an Atom bomb
We stand awed inside a clearing
We do not make a sound
The crimson snow falls all about
Carpeting the ground
Everything is falling, dear
All rhyme and reason gone
It's just history repeating itself
And, babe, you turn me on
Like an idea
Like an Atom bomb
